PhysioFit
PhysioFit classes are small, physiotherapy-led exercise classes designed to build your fitness, muscle strength and balance – and reduce the risk of falling. As we are a physiotherapy-led class, we can tailor your exercises to meet your individual needs and goals.
This class is perfect for people who want to keep strong and improve their balance – helping you keep active for longer.
- When: Mondays 10.05-10.55am, Thursdays 9.15-10am
- Where: Tynemouth Village Hall
- Cost: £7 per class when you prepay £28 for 4 classes OR £8.50 pay as you go
Parkinson’s PhysioFit
Parkinson’s PhysioFit is a bespoke variation of our popular PhysioFit classes, designed for active, independent people with Parkinson’s. These classes aim to improve gait, balance, flexibility, strength and co-ordination.
This class is great for people who feel comfortable going for a good walk and do not regularly fall or experience freezing of gait. The Monday class is vigorous and works at a high intensity. The Thursday class is more moderate, but you will still get a good workout. We recommend starting with the Thursday class, and then our Physiotherapists can assess which class is most suitable for you.
- When: Mondays 11-11.50am (high intensity); Thursdays 10.30-11.20am (moderate intensity)
- Where: Tynemouth Village Hall
- Cost: £8 per session
Tai Chi for Health
Tai Chi originates from the Martial Arts in ancient China. It is a mind and body exercise that integrates movements with focussing your mind. This combination of physical and mental exercise makes Tai Chi one of the most effective exercises for health. Scientific studies have shown Tai Chi can benefit people with arthritis, diabetes, parkinson’s, back pain, falls, and many more conditions.
In our classes, you will learn Tai Chi for Health programmes to increase muscle strength and flexibility. The programmes have been developed to improve balance both mentally and physically and offer a great form of relaxation. This class is for people with or without health conditions – all ages and abilities welcome.
